An 11-year-old boy, Okyere Boateng, has allegedly committed suicide at Atonsu Bokro T.T near Open Bible Church in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased is said to be a class four pupil of the Dompoase M/A primary school.
In an interview with the Assembly member for Bokro electoral area, Hon. Owusu Brempong aka Join De-line said that, the incident occurred after he declined his grandmother’s directive for them to go to shop on Monday evening.
However, his grandmother left him at home for market only to come back and meet his lifeless body hanging on a ceiling fan.
A co-tenant, who was with the boy shortly before the incident occurred, narrated he saw the boy in the morning.
The deceased, according to the assembly member insisted on going to shave his hair instead for him to accompany his grandmother to the market after refusing his grandmother’s plea but did not see him again until she got a call that, her grandson has committed suicide.
In what has come as a surprise to many, he was found dead with his legs touching the bed with mosquito net tide around his neck.
Meanwhile, The Asokwa Police have arrested two sons of the deceased grandmother to assist in investigations.
