The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters has arrested twelve suspects for possession and transportation of 598 cartons of BB cartridges at Nsakye near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, Emmanuel Tsornyake, driver of the DAF articulated truck with registration number EN 792-19; Ofori Jumbo; Paul Darko; Charles Laryea; Theophilus Laryea; and George Teye, were arrested while loading the ammunition into a specially designed compartment in the truck.

Three others Noah Tretsu, Eric Danquah, and Billy Gamati, were also arrested for their suspected involvement. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had concealed 317 cartons of live cartridges and 281 empty cartons inside the trailer to avoid detection. The operation team acted swiftly after confirming intelligence that the truck was being used to transport ammunition from the farm.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects Ebenezer Okyere, who mentioned Samuel Kwadjo Baffoe as the owner of the cartridges.

Suspect Baffoe was later arrested at Amasaman, where he identified one Gloria Bartels as his supplier. He further disclosed that he supplied ammunition to two Nigerians, identified as Tony and Chika, for export to Nigeria.

All twelve suspects are in police custody assisting investigations and will be put before the court.
