The Ghana Police Service has announced that it will process four additional suspects arrested in connection with post-election violence for court tomorrow, increasing the total number of suspects to 123.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director Public Affairs Directorate in a press briefing noted that 49 have already been processed for court, 16 granted bail, and 33 remanded to reappear in court.
Additionally, she said 70 suspects have been granted police enquiry bail.
Providing updates on post-election-related incidents nationwide over the past 24 hours, ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasized that there have been no major security breaches.
The Police, in collaboration with other security agencies under the National Election Security Task Force, continues to work diligently to maintain peace, law, and order.
“The public is encouraged to go about their normal socio-economic activities without fear, as measures are in place to ensure safety and the protection of life and property”, she said.
Furthermore, she assured the public that all 123 suspects are being processed in accordance with legal requirements.
Finally, ACP Ansah-Akrofi noted, that Mr. Abraham Ato Annan, the Afutu Constituency’s second vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress, who sustained injuries in a chaotic incident, is in good health and currently with his family.
