A – 13 – month old baby, Mitchell Tweneboah Koduah has been found dead in a bizarre situation at Abepotia, a town near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality.
According to the deceased’s grandmother, Ama Mintaa, the baby got missing on Friday, April 25th, at about 9pm.
Mintaa, further raised suspicions that she believes the father of Michelle could be the suspect behind her granddaughter’s death.
According her, the family had gathered on the Friday evening, watching television. She said, in the cause of the family’s gathering, her daughter, Erica, the mother of the child, left to buy food from the main town.
Upon her return, Erica’s mother, Mintaa, had gone into her room to rest because she wasn’t feeling too well. The deceased’s grandmother noted that upon her daughter’s return, Mitchell was nowhere to be found, this prompted the family to begin a search for her.
She said the search continued from Friday after which the father, identified as Emma aka Omacho had called to inform them that his Pastor had told him Mitchell is in a certain yellow house within the same area.
She said Emma subsequently, together with his pastor took a lead and reported the case to the Nkawkaw District Police Command for allegedly accusing him (Emma and his pastor) for taking custody of the child without their notice.
The family, in a twist also reported the case upon which a police statement was issued to declare the baby missing.
Michelle’s grandmother believes her son – in – law has a hand in the baby’s unknown death, citing a similar incident that took Emma’s child in a bizarre manner some two years ago.
The grandmother also indicated that her son – in – law and her daughter have had issues where Emma had initially threatened to take the baby away.
Community folks have substantiated Mad. Mintaa’s position on her granddaughter’s demise, noting that the father had been engaging in social vices that could possibly emancipate his rogue demeanor in the area.
The father who heard the death of his child, dressed in an all – white regalia and Cap, was spotted at work the house of Michelle’s mother where he was subsequently chased away with sticks and machetes by a group rampaging community folks who believe that Omacho and his cohorts had plotted the baby’s death.
Police have recovered the decaying body from the river and have launched an investigation into the matter.
