A 20-year-old man, Nawaf Abdulai, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in a robbery case that shook residents of the Upper West Region last month.
On March 6, 2025, Nawaf and his accomplice, Awal Abass—who is still on the run—reportedly attacked and robbed two individuals of their motorbikes in separate incidents. The stolen bikes, a Haojue with registration number M-21-449 UW and a Luojia with registration number M-17-4607 UW, were taken at knifepoint.
Following a swift investigation, police tracked Nawaf to his residence and arrested him two days later, on March 8. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. His case was heard at the Wa Circuit Court.
On April 7, 2025, His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo, presiding over the case, found Nawaf guilty and handed him a 15-year custodial sentence. The verdict marks a significant moment for law enforcement in the region, as it brings closure to a case that had caused concern among residents.
The Upper West Regional Police Command has praised the professionalism of its officers and the cooperation of the public, vowing to continue efforts to keep communities safe.
