The Minister of Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that the 200 housing units being constructed by the State Housing Company (SHC) at Amrahia in the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LANMA) is about 75% complete.
Inspecting the progress of work done, the minister noted that the ministry is piloting parts of its incentive package by providing essential infrastructure such as roads and water connections at no cost to the developer.
“The Ministry will soon extend these incentives to all master developers who sign up for gov’ts PPP framework for affordable housing. The provision of these incentives is to reduce the cost of housing units for the benefit of the Ghanaian people”, he said.
The project according to the managing director of SHC, Dr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah comprises of a recreational area and shops adding that, after completion, the 200 housing units will comprise of two, three and four bedroom with some variations.
Mr. Appiah Ampofo is therefore hopeful that the project will be completed by the end of the year.
“We are hoping that by the end of the year, we would have completed works on this particular project and move to similar projects being constructed across the country”, he stressed.
The State Housing Company is currently undertaking similar projects in Cape Coast, Takoradi, Sefwi Wiawso, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Ho.
