Sports Journalist, Patrick Osei Agyemang popularly known as Countryman Songo says the performance of the Black Stars in this year’s World Cup should not be a surprise to Ghanaians after their early exit from the 2022 World Cup tournament.
Ghana was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage losing 2-0 to Uruguay last Friday, December 2, 2022.
Mr Agyemang was speaking on Hitz Fm’s showbiz review and said it is no surprise to him that the national team did not perform considering what happened in the last African Cup of Nations played in Cameroon.
“Our performance at the World Cup, we should not be surprised at all. We should take a critical look at events which occurred at AFCON. We were last when we went to AFCON in a group of Morocco, Comoros, Ghana and Gabon, we were last in AFCON in Cameroon so you shouldn’t be surprised”.
“It is the same thing that has happened again that we are last again at the World Cup. In our group, we were the last.” He stressed.
According to Songo, the national team is not performing because the selection of the team is influenced by the FA president Kurt Okraku.
“It is through the influence and the selfish interest of our FA president who wants to influence Black Stars selection with his players, that is why we are suffering, that is why we are here now.” He added.
