England started their World Cup campaign with an imposing win against their group B opponent Iran.
Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Jude Bellingham opened the score line for England on the 35th-minute mark, nodding home a cross from Luke Shaw before Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling increased the goal tally for the Three Lions before the break.
Saka scored again in the second half, and then Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish who came on as substitutes finished off the Three Lions’ humiliation.
Iran got two consolation goals from Mehdi Taremi as the game ended 6-2 in favour of England.
England’s next game is on Friday against the United States of America.
