South Korea and Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son has confirmed that he will be at the world cup despite reports last week that he will be missing the tournament.
The Tottenham forward suffered a fracture around his left eye in their Champions League game against Marseille, which raised fears he could miss the tournament.
However, the player last Friday had a surgery to correct the injury he picked in the game.
Meanwhile, the 30-year old in an Instagram post stated: “Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you all for the messages of support I have received over the last week. I have read so many of them and truly, truly appreciate you all. In a tough time I received a lot of strength from you!
Playing for your country at the World Cup is the dream of so many children growing up, just as it was one of mine too. I won’t miss this for the world. I can’t wait to represent our beautiful country, see you soon. Sonny.”
Son is likely to become the all time top goal scorer for South Korea in the World Cup if he gets a goal at the tournament to break Ahn Jung-Hwan and Park Ji-Sung’s record of three goals.
The tournament starts in eleven (11) days.
