Black Stars coach Otto says he does not see the match against Uruguay as revenge.
Ghana will face Uruguay in their last group H match on Friday, November 2, 2022, at the Al Janoub stadium.
A rivalry was established when the two teams met in the World Cup quarter-final in South Africa in 2010, where Luiz Suarez punched the ball off the goal line, to deny Ghana from progressing to the semi-final of the World Cup.
Many Ghanaians after twelve years, still remember that painful exit and think Friday’s match between Ghana and Uruguay is revenge.
However, coach Otto Addo has said that he does not think the encounter is revenge.
“I am not too much thinking about revenge, for me, it’s a normal game. I also was really sad in 2010 when I watched the thing, and it was a big chance for Ghana to proceed to the next stage but its twelve years ago, and now it’s a different match and a different approach also so, I don’t see it, for me, it’s not revenge”
Meanwhile, he is keen on a win for the Black Stars when they meet Uruguay on Friday.
“Surely, we want to win. The good thing is that at the end if it is a draw, is also good for us but we want to win this game.” He told the GFA media team.
Ghana is second in Group H, with three points, two points more than South Korea and Uruguay respectively.
