Senegal managed to record their first win at the ongoing Qatar 2022 World Cup against host nation Qatar on Friday afternoon.
Coming into this game, both teams had lost their first matches, and for any of them to get any chance of qualifying, needed a win.
With Senegal enjoying a lot of possession in the first half, Boulaye Dia gave them the deserved lead after a defensive error by Qatar just before halftime.
Aliou Cisseās men doubled their lead just minutes into the second half.
The host nation grew into the game, making a lot of attempts that were denied by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy before substitute Mohammed Muntari pulled one back for Qatar.
Bamba Dieng then sealed the win for Senegal, with the match ending 3-1.
Senegal is now third on the table with three points, while Qatar is placed fourth with no points.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands who are first on the table with three points is yet to play second place Ecuador who are also second with three points.
