Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has called up 25 players for the Black Stars 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Central African Republic this month.
The big blow to the manager is however, vice captain of the team, Thomas Partey, who missed out due to an injury.
Meanwhile, players like goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who has been absent since September 2022, Baba Iddrisu and Elisha Owusu, have all been included in the squad.
The surprise is Medeama’s SC striker Jonathan Sowah, who has been called for the first time to the national team.
Sowah was in an impressive form in last season’s betPawa Ghana Premier League for Medeama, scoring 12 goals for the club.
Meanwhile, coach Chris Hughton has maintained his faith in captain Adre Ayew, who is without a club at the moment.
The 33-year-old was released by Nottingham after his loan deal at the Club expired in June 30, and has since not found a club.
The game will be played on September 7, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
