Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has praised his side for finishing top of Group E in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 64-year-old said this during his post-match press conference on Thursday.
According to him, his side has more room to improve their performance, and be ready for the tournament in January next year in Ivory Coast.
“The level of African football has increased and if I’m not mistaking, I think we actually finished top of that group so I think that’s something to be very proud of. Its always about development and when you look at the squad that we have even when I came in, we had 10 new players that have been introduced to the squad over the last year so its always a process.
“We must not take away the fact that we actually finished top of that group I think was a tough group, and I think certainly, the two that finished below us I think are good level sides and I think the players certainly have to be applauded for that.”
In a group with Angola, Central African Republic and Madagascar, Coach Chris Hughton’s men finished top of Group E with 12 points, after winning 3 and drawing 3.
