Head coach of the Black Stars Chris Hughton has said that the focus of the team is to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations slated to happen in Ivory Coast.
He indicated this during his pre-match press conference yesterday, ahead of the match between Ghana and Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi at 4 pm today.
According to him, winning the game today is very important for the team, and not about the head coach, adding that the aim is to qualify and do well at the AFCON.
“It is important because is the first game, but also, it’s not about the head coach, it’s about us playing our game at home here against very good opposition in Angola, and we aim to qualify for AFCON and to do well in AFCON and the only way you can do that is by winning matches.
So, for me personally, it will be a wonderful thing and of course hugely important to get a win but more importantly for the team to win this game against a very good opposition here at home, with a tough game coming in a few days is hugely important,” he stressed.
