2023 African Games: Benjamin Azamati leads 36-member track and field team

The Ghana Athletics has released the final list of athletes to represent Ghana at the upcoming 2023 African Games.

The Ghana Athletics has released the final list of athletes to represent Ghana at the upcoming 2023 African Games.

The 36-member team comprises of  21 males and 15 females.

The team is being led by Ghana’s 100m record holder, Benjamin Azamati and other high-profile athletes, who will be competing to ensure that Ghana grabs a lot of medals.

For the men’s 100 and 200 meters event, James Dadzie, Solomon Hammond, Ibrahim Fuseini, Sarfo Ansah and Edwin Gadayi will represent Ghana.

In the 400 and 4×400m races, Raymond French, Solomon Diafo, Joshua Bour, and Frank Addo will compete.

Alex Amankwah will run the 800 and 400m, and Dompey Barnabas will run the 400m hurdles.

For the women, Benedicta Kwartemaa, Mary Boakye, Hor Halutie, Janet Mensah, and Doris Mensah are all in the mix to compete for the country.

A statement released by the Ghana Athletics said the 36-member team was selected by adhering to the 2024 Ghana Athletes Selection Policy and Qualifying Standards.

The games, being the first time its hosted in Ghana, will be held from March 8, 2024 to March 23, 2024
