Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has instructed his lawyers to proceed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to appeal his disqualification following the GFA Appeals Committee’s decision to uphold his disqualification by the Elections Committee.
Mr. Afriyie was disqualified earlier this month by the GFA Elections Committee as a result of his inability to meet the requirements set out in order to be legible.
Following his disqualification, he filed an appeal to the Appeals Committee, but the committee dismissed the case last week.
It is on the back of this that George Afriyie has decided to head to CAS to seek recourse.
This will bring more uncertainty over the GFA elections, which was supposed to be held on September 27, 2023, after Kumasi-based club, King Faisal also filed a court injunction last month.
