This year’s President’s Cup will be a different and special one since the start of this fixture which is played a day before Ghana’s Independence day celebration.

The President’s Cup is a game between the two biggest clubs in Ghana, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko to determine bragging rights in terms of the powerhouse of Ghana football.

Over the years, this game is played with the President in attendance to crown the winner on the day with a trophy and some cash prize.

However, the 2023 edition of the President’s Cup would be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. 5th March 2023 will serve as a Betpawa Premier League matchday 20 fixture and the usual President’s Cup fixture.

The decision by the Local Organizing Committee is due to the congestion of fixtures as a result of the break during the World Cup period.

On the day, the two teams would be playing for 3 points as they both fight for the top spot on the Betpawa Premier League table and also for the trophy but who has the upper hand going into this fixture?

According to the Organizing committee, if the game should end in a draw after 90 minutes, both teams would be awarded a point each then play extra time and maybe penalties for the trophy.

With Kotoko being ahead of Hearts on the league table, do they have the upper hand over their arch rivals or would the usual “form is not needed” when it comes to games of this nature?

Speaking after their last respective fixtures in the league, both coaches are very confident ahead of the game and promise to give their supporters an entertaining encounter.
