Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has called for effective collaboration between elected parliamentary candidates and those who lost in the just ended New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) primaries on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
A total of 321 candidates contested 105 parliamentary seats, with 33 Members of Parliament running unopposed ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Many incumbent MPs including the Sanitation Minister; Freda Prempeh, the Minister for Public Enterprises; Joseph Cudjoe, MP for Dome Kwabenya; Sarah Adwoa Safo and MP for Trobu Constituency, Moses Anim, all lost their seats.
Dr. Bawumia has, nevertheless, urged them to back the NPP in order to win many seats in parliament.
“To those who lost out, I together with the rank and file of the party, need your support and contributions to ensure that we win majority seats and the Presidency in December 2024. I urge the unsuccessful aspirants to leave the elections behind, consider the supreme interest of the party, and work closely with the elected parliamentary candidates to secure success for the NPP,” he said in a statement.
He further sent a congratulatory messages to all those who emerged as winners.
“On behalf of the New Patriotic Party, I congratulate all those who have been elected today by the delegates of our party to participate in the December elections on the ticket of the NPP.”
