The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled August 2, 2024 to open nominations for Presidential and Parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general elections.
EC in a statement released on Thursday August 1, 2024 indicated that candidates are required to download nominations forms from the commissions website adding that, the commission will begin receiving the forms from Monday September 9 to Friday September 13, 2024 .
The statement further disclosed that, candidates vying for the Presidential position are required to pay One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢100,000) to the Electoral Commission during the submission of the nomination forms while female candidates and persons with disabilities are required to pay Seventy-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 75,000).
However, as part of the guidelines, EC has directed that completed Presidential Nomination Forms should be signed by the Candidate and not less than two registered voters of each District Assembly.
The statement concluded that all matters concerning the presidential elections should be directed to the EC Chairperson, while issues related to parliamentary elections should be addressed to the Returning Officers of the constituencies.
“All enquiries relating to the Presidential Election should be addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and the Parliamentary Elections to the Returning Officers of the Constituencies where the Candidates seek election,”
