Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has strongly refuted a report published by GhanaWeb, claiming that food distributed to her party agents on voting day was rejected by constituents.
In a statement issued on Saturday, December 7, the MP described the report as “reckless and unfounded,” labeling it a deliberate fabrication intended to mislead the public and tarnish her reputation.
“No such incident occurred,” Owusu-Ekuful stated emphatically. “This baseless narrative is devoid of any factual merit and reflects a complete failure on the part of the platform to adhere to basic journalistic ethics of fact-checking and accuracy.
The MP expressed concern over the potential harm such false narratives could inflict, calling the report a “malicious attempt to sow discord and undermine the unity and trust” she has built with her constituents over the years.
She reaffirmed her commitment to serving Ablekuma West with integrity, emphasizing that logistical support provided during the electoral process was well-received by all involved.
Owusu-Ekuful also used the opportunity to remind the media of their responsibility to uphold journalistic principles, urging them to prioritize accuracy and truth in their reportage.
“To my constituents, I assure you that I remain committed to serving you with dedication and humility,” she added. “Let us not be distracted by these unfounded distractions, and let’s be guided by facts and mutual respect.”
The MP concluded with a rallying call for unity and focus, reiterating her determination to ensure a peaceful electoral process and maintain the trust of the people of Ablekuma West.
Efforts to obtain a response from GhanaWeb regarding the allegations of inaccuracy in their report were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
