Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has promised traders at the Kejetia market that he will complete phase II of the market when elected president.
Since redeveloping the first phase of the market in 2015, the second phase has been abandoned despite several calls from traders to complete the project.
According to the traders, the current government should forget “breaking the 8” if it fails to complete the project.
Beginning his 24-hour economy walk in Kumasi, on Wednesday January 25, the former President criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for failing to fulfill a promise made to the traders after part of the market was destroyed by fire.
“Looking at the state of the market today, it is obvious that, the promise that was made has not been fulfilled”, Mr. Mahama told traders and party supporters.
He also mentioned that, in 2020 he was able to mention several projects he undertook in the region but the New Patriotic Party could only boast of making Alan Kyerematen a minister.
He therefore charged traders and supporters in the region to massively vote for him so as to complete the project to create more jobs for individuals in the region.
Not only speaking on the stalled market project, the former President added that, he will also address the poor road networks in Kwabre and other parts of the region.
The former President is expected to hold a three day 24-hour economy walk in the region as part of his Building Ghana Tour.
