The Volta Regional House of Chiefs have advised all political parties to adopt the use of decent language during their campaigns ahead of the 2024 general elections.
This came up when flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama paid them a courtesy call on Friday, January 12, 2024 as part of his building Ghana tour.
Speaking on behalf of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Vice President Togbe Patamia Dzekley, reminded politicians that the youth of the country look up to them and hence should put up good character.
“It is an election year, and we would like to use this opportunity to remind all players in the field to use decent languages on their campaign trail. Don’t forget the young ones are watching because they see your logos and the personalities involved. I hope we will not leave an indelible mark in their minds that our elders are not respecting themselves. Let us be decorum, let us use the decent language during our campaigns,” he said.
Ghana will on December 7, 2024 hold its general election to elect president and members of parliament.
All political parties and independent candidates are preparing themselves ahead of December 7, in order to seek to win power.
