The Black Queens of Ghana will come up against Guinea in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifying match in Conakry today.
The team travelled to Guinea last Tuesday, to continue preparations for the much-anticipated game.
The Queens have failed to secure qualifications in previous Olympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), and will have to do more in order to make it to the competition this time round.
Head coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle, speaking ahead of the game, reaffirmed her team’s readiness to give it their best.
“We always analyze our opponent pretty well, they played the WAFU Zone A Cup, so we have good video footage. We know the line-up they usually play, they have two very tall strikers, which we are aware of, and they often worked with long balls and second balls, so we know what is expected of us.
But mainly, we focus on us, we work on our principles, and it doesn’t matter the opponent we play and on the other hand, we always create the game plan which is framed and settled on Guinea,” she said.
The game is scheduled to take place at 4:00 PM at the Stade General Lansana.
