Rashid Cidi, a 21-year-old unemployed man has stabbed a senior police officer who stopped him from peddling drugs and terrorising residents at McCarthy Hill in Accra.
Reports suggest that Cidi, who was known in the neighborhood for his alleged involvement in prohibited drugs was fully aware that the victim, ASP Samuel Assifuah Boah was a police officer.
Cidi attempted to attack ASP Asafuah on July 7, 2025 but the officer fired a shot from his service pistol causing Cidi to flee.
However, the following morning while the police officer was escorting his children to school, Cidi allegedly ambushed him armed with a jackknife.
ASP Asafuah again fired warning shots to deter him but Cidi overpowered him.
Cidi is said to have stabbed the officer multiple times in the back causing the Senior officer to sustain severe injuries.
Cidi was arrested later and has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
