The devastating fire the occurred weeks ago at the Kumasi Blue Light market in the Ashanti Region left nearly 2,900 people affected, with the majority struggling to rebuild their lives.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, confirmed the scale of the disaster, revealing that 1,500 of the traders have lost their means of livelihood, while 1,300 are still able to support themselves, though their circumstances remain difficult.

The fire, which broke out weeks ago, left many traders in shock and disbelief as their stalls, goods, and sources of income were destroyed in the blaze.

Following an assessment by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the full impact of the fire has come to light, with many of the affected individuals now facing an uncertain future.

“It’s a devastating loss for the traders, and we are committed to offering them the support they need to recover,” said Dr. Amoakohene.

Efforts are now underway to provide immediate relief to those who have lost everything, while plans to help others rebuild their businesses are also in motion.

The Regional Coordinating Council and NADMO are working to coordinate efforts to support the victims, but with the scale of the disaster becoming more apparent each day, the community is rallying together to help those most in need.
