Three persons have been arrested in connection with the theft of a newborn baby from One Heart Hospital in Tamale.
The arrest which was made on Sunday, December 21, 2025, included two nurses and a security guard who were on duty at the time of the incident.
The baby is said to have been taken away by a woman who posed as a nurse. The suspect is said to have entered the labour ward and told the staff on duty she was going to give the newborn an injection.
She reportedly left the ward with the baby and did not return.
According to the baby’s mother, Abdul Mumin Safitatu, she had stepped out briefly to use the washroom but upon her return, she could not find her baby.
The Northern Regional police are investigating the matter to arrest other suspects linked to the theft.
