At least three (3) people have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained severe injuries on the Kumasi-Techiman highway after a VIP bus collided head-on with a trailer truck.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 2, 2023, has left the community and authorities in grief and shock.
An eyewitness narrating the incident said it occurred at Nkenkaasu, a town in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region
It is unclear what led to the fatal accident, but speculations suggest that one of the drivers of one of the vehicles was sleeping as he veered off his lane.
According to sources, the VIP bus with registration number AP- 1986 – 22 was heading towards Techiman in the Bono East Region while the truck believed to be a Burkina Faso vehicle with registration number BF 2315 F1 03 was loaded with cereals was heading towards Kumasi.
Injured victims have however been rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment while the deceased have been taken to the morgue.
