The crashes reported involved 5,722 vehicles with 606 pedestrian knockdowns.
This figure also means the number of vehicles involved also dropped by 13.13% as compared to the same period in 2022.
Again, the report also noted that there was a significant reduction of 14.89% in pedestrian knockdowns in 2023 as compared to 2022.
Out of the total number of vehicles involved in the 2023 crashes, 1,765 were commercial vehicles, 2,711 were private vehicles and 1,246 of them were motorcycles.
The statistics further revealed that the Greater Accra Region had the highest number of recorded crashes of 1,243 among the 16 regions while the Oti Region recorded 15 cases being the least.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has however described the reductions as a promising outlook for the country as it works on deploying various technologies to further reduce the crashes.
