A total of 65 individuals have been arrested in connection with cybercrime-related activities following a series of coordinated operations conducted by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking at a media briefing, the Acting Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Divine Selasi Agbeti, said the arrests form part of an intensified national campaign to safeguard Ghana’s digital ecosystem and shield citizens from emerging online threats.
As part of the enforcement efforts, one of the major operations was carried out on May 29, 2025, at Ubuntu Estate in Dodowa-Sasabi, where a total of 25 foreign nationals were apprehended on suspicion of engaging in sophisticated cyber schemes.
Law enforcement officers seized 40 laptop computers, 30 mobile phones, and an internet router, all of which were allegedly being used in illicit online activities.
Mr. Agbeti disclosed that preliminary findings from the ongoing investigations point to organized operations involving both foreign and local actors.
He added that some Ghanaian nationals have also been found to be complicit in facilitating or participating in the cybercriminal activities uncovered during the crackdown.
He further indicated that both legal proceedings and diplomatic protocols are being pursued to ensure that those arrested are appropriately prosecuted.
In cases involving foreign nationals, steps are also being taken toward possible repatriation, subject to the outcomes of investigations and court processes.
The CSA boss reiterated that the arrests underscore a growing trend in cybercrime activity within Ghana’s borders and called attention to the importance of enhanced collaboration between cybersecurity institutions, law enforcement agencies, and the general public.
Investigations are still ongoing as authorities work to dismantle the networks involved and prevent future attacks on individuals, businesses, and state infrastructure.
