Apostle Paul Kofi Agyekum, a Socio-political analyst has labeled most politicians in the country as corrupt who don’t think about the interest of the country but only their parochial and personal interest which has rendered the country with no better improvement.

Speaking in an interview on High Radio, the Pastor cum political analyst indicated that the leaders of the country through whom the country gained her independence didn’t reflect on the responsibilities and obligations of the independence hence the continuous suffering and retrogression indicating that we gained the independence in a haste which he said has affected a lot in terms of developmental ideas.

“About 80% of politicians in Ghana are deceitful and only think about personal interest at the expense of the interest of the country stressing that most politicians in Ghana are not much concerned about the development of the country and the welfare of the citizenry”, he stated

Apostle Agyekum also mentioned that the wickedness and hypocrisy of politicians are on the rise as a result of poor journalism in the country denoting that Journalists have to ensure these political figures are well exposed to the masses when they fail to perform their tasks as expected, but it doesn’t work as such due to the nature of journalistic training in the country of which he expressed massive disappointment.

He said the media has failed to meet the expectation of Ghanaians in terms of ensuring better governance from our politicians because most politicians have captured several media houses and personnel due to the financial hardship in the field of journalism which makes it difficult for the section of them to speak truth to power.

Apostle Agyekum finally tasked religious leaders to constructively criticize the government whenever things seem not to be moving as expected in governance devoid of Partisan politics.

He noted that although each and everyone has his/her political differences as Men of God, they must ensure the government of the day is working to meet the needs of citizens.
