The Branch Manager of the Kwahu West Municipal Metro Mass Transit in the Eastern Region, Mr Eric Djan has admitted that nine out of the ten buses in their yard have been grounded, leaving just one to be operational.
Speaking to Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm, Djan, the Branch Manager admitted that the grounded buses are of some petty faults that could be easily repaired.
He noted that, all ten of the buses in the yard are operational but for now, only one is conveying passengers concurrently.
Mr Djan noted that, the faults are not something irreplaceable but admitted that the buses are aged and in that respect, the metro mass has a mandate of replacing its parts when it is due and necessary.
He also noted that, for the Kwahu West Municipality, there has always been a delay in the replacement of these buses because whenever they (the branch metro) request for service parts, it has to be procured and go through Koforidua, the regional capital before they get hold of these parts and obviously, that is one of the reasons why most of the buses are grounded.![]()
He revealed that the request can even stay in Koforidua for close to a month before it can be forwarded to the headquarters for further assistance.
Mr Djan revealed that, most of the time, the repaired parts are returned back to fix on these buses for operational purposes.
Mr. Djan revealed that very soon, Kwahu Tafo, Donkorkrom other parts of the provinces will have their buses bounce back.
“God being so good. The authorities have accepted to offer us help and so by next week, we will have buses moving from here to Kwahu Tafo, Donkorkrom and its environs back on their feet” he told Kwame Koranteng.
Meanwhile, a team from the Republic Fm led by Citizen Kofi Affreh and accompanied by Andy Frimpong Manso visited the branch yard of the Kwahu West metro mass and pictures and visual contents taken from the yard revealed that, residents have resorted to using the grounded buses as refuse dump as a way of showing negligence towards these buses.
Mr Djan revealed that, two buses will be added to the single operational one whiles they look forward to get these buses repaired.
