The Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Her Honour Basilia Adjei-Tawiah, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two individuals involved in a case of conspiracy, attempted crime, and land guard activities.
The accused, Akpene Asempa, a 64-year-old retired nurse, and Mark Tetteh Laweh, a military officer, have failed to appear in court on three consecutive occasions, prompting the judge’s decision to issue the warrant.
Prosecution Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu informed the court that the complainant, Dawood Akwasi Agyemang, is a businessman and caretaker of a residential property owned by Lawyer Paul Abalga.
The court heard that on August 27, 2024, around 7:00 PM, Asempa hired Adam Hamza, a backhoe operator and witness in the case, to demolish a fence belonging to Lawyer Abalga.
This action was reportedly carried out with the protection of armed military officers, including Laweh.
Before the demolition could commence, Agyemang alerted the police, who responded quickly and arrested Asempa, Laweh, and Hamza.
Other military officers present fled the scene in a military vehicle bearing the registration number 53 GA 13.
Ongoing Investigations
Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices.
The court has mandated the arrest of the accused due to their repeated failures to attend court hearings.
