An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to Ismail Ashitey Trebi, a transport and procurement officer, in the amount of GH¢100,000.
The court presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful, set Trebi’s bail conditions to include two sureties, each earning a monthly income of at least GH¢3,000.
Trebi is accused of unlawfully causing damage to a wooden structure valued at GH¢98,201, allegedly owned by Kwame Ganyo. The charge of causing unlawful damage is filed under Section 172 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The case is adjourned to January 29, 2025.
According to Inspector Godwin Wemegah, the prosecutor, the complainant, Kwame Ganyo, is a trader residing in Old Manna, Teshie.
The accused, Trebi, is employed as a Transport and Procurement Officer at Family Health Hospital and lives near Teshie Mosque.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 22, 2024, when Trebi allegedly demolished the wooden structure serving as a residence for Ganyo and his family.
The following day, Ganyo filed a complaint with the police, accusing Trebi of causing unlawful damage to his property.
After investigating, authorities identified Trebi as the alleged perpetrator, and he was summoned to the police station on August 29, 2024.
Trebi reportedly cooperated by giving a statement in which he claimed ownership of the land, asserting that the Teshie Lenshie Dzase elders had allocated it to him.
Following these statements and investigations, Trebi was formally charged, and the case will continue in court early next year.
