Mahama names senior team for Office of the President

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has officially announced a series of high-level appointments to the Office of the President as he prepares to assume leadership of the Republic of Ghana.

The appointments, outlined in a statement issued on January 6, 2025, will take effect from Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Among the appointees is Julius Debrah, who will serve as Chief of Staff, a pivotal role in coordinating the activities of the Presidency. Dr. Callistus Mahama has been named Executive Secretary to the President, while Prosper Douglas Bani will head the Interim Security Taskforce.

Other key appointments include Dr. Valerie Sawyer as Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Augustus Goosie Tanoh, who will serve as Presidential Advisor responsible for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development.

Marietta Ayewaa Brew has been appointed Legal Counsel to the President, and Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu will take on the role of Acting Spokesperson to the President.

These appointments mark the President-elect’s first steps toward assembling a leadership team to guide the next administration.

Observers have noted that the selected individuals bring extensive experience in governance, law, and security, reflecting Mahama’s emphasis on competence and continuity in his leadership.

The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Special Aide to the President-elect, underscores the readiness of Mahama’s administration to hit the ground running as the new government transitions into office.
