The Office of the President has directed all heads of government institutions to submit detailed records of staff members added to their payrolls since Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The directive, issued via a memo signed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in payroll management.

This initiative forms part of President John Mahama’s broader efforts to address irregularities and streamline payroll systems within the public sector.

The directive outlines the specific details to be provided for each new staff member, including:

  • Full Name
  • Designation/Job Title
  • Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
  • Date of Appointment
  • Date Added to Payroll

Heads of institutions have been given a deadline of Friday, January 31, 2025, to submit the required information. The memo emphasised the importance of compliance, stating,

“This information is critical to maintaining transparency and accountability.”

The directive has also been communicated to key government stakeholders, including the Vice President and the Secretary to the President, underscoring its high-priority status.

Institutions experiencing difficulties or seeking clarification have been advised to reach out through appropriate channels for assistance.

Failure to meet the submission deadline may result in further investigation or scrutiny as the government seeks to eliminate discrepancies and ensure payroll accuracy.

This initiative reflects President Mahama’s focus on efficiency and financial discipline within the public sector.
