The Minority Caucus in Parliament has formally raised concerns regarding the chairmanship of the Ad-Hoc Committee, prompting them to submit a petition to the Speaker of Parliament.

In a memorandum addressed to the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Bedzrah, Minority Leader Osafo Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin stated that the caucus is awaiting the Speaker’s response before proceeding with the committee’s work.

The memorandum, which was also copied to the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, highlights apprehensions about the fairness, impartiality, and credibility of the committee’s proceedings.

The Minority has emphasized that their stance should not be interpreted as a refusal to engage with the committee but rather as a step to ensure due process and transparency.

They have called on the Speaker to address their concerns in a manner that upholds parliamentary integrity.

The outcome of the Speaker’s decision is expected to influence the direction of the committee’s work.

Meanwhile, the Minority Caucus has reiterated its commitment to a resolution that fosters confidence in the process.
