The Minister for the Interior has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Walewale and its surrounding areas in the North East Region following recommendations from the North East Regional Security Council.

The curfew, which takes effect from Saturday, February 15, 2025, will be enforced daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM until further notice.

The government has called on local leaders, including chiefs, elders, and youth groups, to remain calm and seek peaceful resolutions to any challenges confronting the area.

Officials emphasized the importance of non-violent means in addressing grievances to maintain peace and stability.

In addition to the curfew, the government has announced a total ban on the possession and carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Walewale and its environs. Authorities have warned that anyone found in possession of such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.

The directive was issued in Accra on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and signed by Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak (MP).

Authorities urge residents to comply with the new measures to ensure public safety and security in the region.
