The Accra Circuit Court has ordered the remand of Stephen Agordotse, a Ghanaian national facing extradition to Nigeria over allegations of stealing vehicles and electronic items worth approximately ₦8.76 million.
Presided over by His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan, the court made the ruling as Agordotse appeared for the second time while awaiting extradition to Lagos, Nigeria, where he is set to stand trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 12, 2025.
According to court documents, Agordotse is charged with stealing under Section 124(1) of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). The stolen assets, belonging to Lagos-based Discovery Logistics and E-Commerce Service, include a KIA Cerato saloon vehicle valued at ₦5.5 million, two motorcycles worth ₦2 million, as well as a laptop, a mobile phone, a flat-screen television, and cash.
Authorities launched an investigation after receiving an INTERPOL alert from Abuja on January 13, 2025, detailing the alleged crime. Reports indicate that Agordotse, formerly an operations manager at Discovery Logistics, fled after stealing company assets.
Acting on intelligence from INTERPOL, officers from the Accra Central Police Station arrested him. During questioning, he allegedly confessed in his caution statement. Legal processes for his extradition are underway, with INTERPOL’s Secure Channel Network facilitating communication between Ghanaian and Nigerian authorities to finalize his transfer for prosecution.
