The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) by decentralizing its operations. She made this known during a meeting with the sixteen (16) newly appointed Regional Coordinators of the programme on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The meeting followed her earlier engagement with the National Coordinator of GSFP, Hajia Fati Forgor, and her two deputies. Welcoming the Regional Coordinators, Dr. Lartey commended them for their dedication and emphasized that decentralization would enhance efficiency, improve monitoring, and ensure the delivery of high-quality meals to school children.

She urged the coordinators to strictly adhere to the GSFP’s structure in handling requests, resolving conflicts, and addressing challenges within their respective regions. To equip them for their new roles, she assured them of continuous training and capacity-building programs.

Additionally, the Minister encouraged the coordinators to foster unity and work collaboratively with district and zonal coordinators to strengthen the programme’s implementation.

A key highlight of the meeting was the formal presentation of appointment letters to the Regional Coordinators, who pledged their commitment to ensuring the effective delivery of nutritious meals to school children.

Expressing her excitement about the appointments, Hajia Fati Forgor, the National Coordinator, highlighted the significance of an all-women leadership team at the regional level. She reaffirmed their collective dedication to achieving the President’s vision of an improved and sustainable school feeding programme.

The move to decentralize the GSFP is expected to streamline operations and enhance accountability, ultimately benefiting thousands of school children across the country.
