The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker paid a working visit to the Ghana Land Restoration and Small Scale Mining Project (GLRSSMP) to familiarize himself with their operations.

In an interaction with officials, he assured management and staff of Government’s readiness to get the project fully operational again.

Hon. Duker added “We need your commitment to fulfill the mandate of the Ministry and help to make the Ministry top notch in the administration of His Excellency the President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”

In a remark, the Project Coordinator, Dr John Krugu told the Minister and his entourage that “they have worked hard to bring the World Bank negotiations on the funding and full implementation of project forward.

This, he said, has given the Bank good impression about the Project and the Ministry saying that “We are working to get the TOR’s for the world bank’s approvals to prevent the delay in the Project take-off.”

Hon. Mireku Duker also met and commended National Service personnel manning the ‘Situation Room’ on illegal mining and assured them of efforts being made to absorb some of them who discharged their duties well during their stint with the Ministry.

“On behalf of the Hon. Minister, I thank you all helping to run the situation room and obtaining some feedback back from Ghanaians,” he added.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied on the visit by the Advisor to Minister, Mr Ben Aryee and the Technical Director of Mines, Mr. Peter Awuah.
