The Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon. John Darko has hinted that he will soon propose a private members Bill which will mandate the Executive to set aside funds and take practical steps to prepare auto mechanics across the country with training and technology to face the eventual future.

According to the MP, the creation of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition by the Civil Service (Ministries) Instrument 2025, signifies the intend and direction of President John Mahama to gradually move the country’s desire from fossil fuel as the major source of energy to green sources of energy.

The MP for Suame made this known on the floor when he made a statement on the Green Transition and its Effects on the Auto Mechanics in Suame Industrial Area (Suame Magazine).

He explained further that the green energy is the energy source which has zero or minimum environmental impact as more environmentally benign, more sustainable, and produced from solar, hydro, biomass, wind, and geothermal.

He was of the view that transitioning from the current fossil fuel (coal, petroleum, natural gas,) based economy to green energy will help in the reduction of emissions and thereby saving the world from reaching the dreaded 2 degrees Celsius.

He emphasised that the green transition, has led global shift towards the use of Electric Vehicles as compared to combustion engine vehicles.

Members of Parliament from both sides of the House commented on the statement and expressed optimism about the green energy transition.
