A ghastly accident at Atwedie on the Accra – Kumasi Highway has claimed the lives of 15 members of Savior Church, leaving scores critically injured.

On Monday, 28th July 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a tragic accident which occurred at Juaso Three Lane on the Accra-Kumasi highway in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

The collision involved a Ford Transit vehicle (GT 4674-22) driven by Mr. Baffour Evans and an empty DAF FX tanker (GT 1674-17).

Preliminary reports suggest that the victims were returning to Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality after attending their church’s annual meeting in the Eastern Region.

One female victim with injuries was rescued by the public and taken to Juaso Government Hospital before GNFS crew’s arrival. Sadly, 15 bodies, 11 females and 4 males, were retrieved and transported to Steward Morgue. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
