The family of the late Daddy Lumba in collaboration with the Creative Arts Agency hosted a candlelight vigil for the departed musician.
The solemn event took place at the Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
The atmosphere was filled with empathy as thousands of Ghanaians gathered at the Independence Square to pay tribute to the late music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba.

The candlelight vigil was a touching tribute to one of the nation’s most beloved musicians, whose songs have inspired generations.
Daddy Lumba died at The Bank Hospital, located in Cantonments, Accra, in the early morning hours of July 26, 2025 after a short illness.
The participants mostly clad in red and black attire lit the square with flickering candles as they reflected on Daddy Lumba’s impact on Ghana’s music scene.
The night was filled with choir performances, poetry readings, tributes, and other performances honoring the late highlife music legend.
His ageless songs filled the air with many people singing along to the timeless hits that have captured the hearts and soul of Ghanaians.
The vigil was a celebration of his artistic legacy, which still inspires many, as well as a tribute.
Notable persons in the music industry such as Sarkodie, Keche, Bessa Simons, KOD and others were all present to honour the late legend.
The vigil is the first of a lined-up activities to honour Daddy Lumba following his demise.
