The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men in possession of 519 compressed parcels of substances suspected to be Indian hemp at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Eric Nkyeke and 28-year-old Francis Klu, were apprehended by the Nyanyano District Police patrol team at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025.

They were allegedly offloading the parcels from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck with registration number GS-6849-21 when they were arrested. The vehicle has since been impounded.

According to a statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Regional Police Command, the suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
“The Regional Police Command, while appreciating the swift action of the arresting officers, reaffirms its commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our communities.
We further warn all individuals involved in such illegal activities to desist or face the full rigours of the law if arrested,” the statement read.
DSP Dosoo also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities related to drugs or crime to the police.
