The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a general amnesty for all party members who have been suspended or whose disciplinary cases are currently pending before adjudicatory bodies.

In a directive issued by the Acting National Chairman, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, the party disclosed that the decision was taken by the National Council at its emergency meeting held on July 25, 2025.

The move, the statement noted, is aimed at promoting unity, reconciliation, and collective preparation for upcoming political tasks.

“This directive lifts all such suspensions and waives any ongoing proceedings against affected members,” the statement said.

However, members who had forfeited their membership are required to submit a formal application for reinstatement.

The NPP also clarified that reinstated members will remain ineligible to contest any internal party election until a mandatory two-year period has elapsed.

According to the party, the measure underscores its commitment to strengthening internal cohesion and solidarity.

Party leadership at all levels has also been cautioned against arbitrary suspensions, with disciplinary matters expected to be handled strictly in line with the party’s constitution, principles, and due process provisions.

The statement concluded with a call for full compliance and cooperation from all party structures to ensure harmony as the NPP prepares for the future.
