Police in the Eastern South Region have arrested a 33-year-old man, Bernard Kumi Ofosu, for possession of a firearm and ammunition without authority.
The arrest took place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, around 8:00 a.m., during a patrol operation at Akwatia St. Dominic Hospital road.
According to the police, Ofosu was intercepted while driving, and a search conducted in his car led to the discovery of one Tulpar double-barrel pump-action gun, five AAA live cartridges, and two FTB blank cartridges.
When questioned, the suspect admitted ownership of the firearm and ammunition.
He later produced a license, number 14/1179006, marked AAAJ/1990/2025 – ADLER TULPAR 24SA-12262, dated January 30, 2025, as covering the weapon.
Police say the license will be forwarded to the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons for verification and validation of its authenticity and ownership.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Akwatia Police Station, assisting investigators.
