A private security guard stationed at the Frimps Filling Station opposite Glamosey Junction in Abesim in Sunyani East Municipal of the Bono Region has allegedly been murdered by unknown assailants.

The deceased, Kwasi Addae, a former staff of Volta River Authority in Sunyani, met his untimely death on Sunday during his night duties.

Workers and residents who saw his lifeless body Monday morning, 6th October, described the death as horrific and inhumane.

Blood splatter was found on the wall beside his body, and blood had oozed onto the bench where he was lying.

His pair of slippers was discovered underneath the bench.

A CCTV camera at the filling station had been tampered with and tilted upward by the killers to evade capture.

According to the Assembly Member for Abesim Dominase electoral area, Hon. Solomon Kumi, a.k.a Agombia, he believes the killers used an axe to strike the victim on the head while he laid on a bench at night.

The assembly member said Kwasi Addae, who is in his 60s, left behind a wife and five children.

The Dominase assembly member stated that the deceased, a native of Goaso in the Ahafo Region, was residing and working in Abesim.

Hon. Solomon Kumi said so far, the authorities at the facility reported no stolen money or missing items, suggesting that the suspect’s motive may have been solely to attack and kill the deceased or otherwise.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the killers and are investigating the matter.

Some police personnel from Sunyani visited the scene and conveyed the body to the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

According to the Assembly Member, the manager of the Frimps Filling Station has assured full cooperation, ready to provide the CCTV footage to the police to aid in the investigation.

Hon. Agombia said the family of the deceased has been informed and has assured full cooperation with the investigation.

Residents who spoke to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm laments poor security measures in the area, particularly during night hours, particularly on Fridays.

They attribute poor security lamps and infrequent police patrols to the rising insecurity, petty theft, and attacks on residents.

A resident called on the municipal assembly and the police to intensify security presence to address night attacks.
