The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled Friday, October 10, 2025, for the balloting of positions on the ballot paper for its upcoming presidential primary, set for January 31, 2026.

In an official letter signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, all five vetted aspirants were invited to participate in the exercise, which will be held at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down at 11:00 a.m.

“The Chairman of the Committee has directed me to extend an invitation for your participation in a balloting process to determine your positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31st Presidential Primary,” the letter stated.

The aspirants expected to take part include Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, H.E. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.

According to Yamoah, the balloting is part of the party’s ongoing efforts to uphold transparency and fairness in its internal democratic processes.

“We kindly request your confirmation of receipt of this invitation. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned,” he added.

The Presidential Elections Committee, chaired by a senior party stalwart, is overseeing all preparations ahead of the primary, which will determine the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The Committee also commended the aspirants for their conduct during the vetting process, describing it as a reflection of the party’s maturity and commitment to democratic governance.

“The party remains committed to a free, fair, and credible process that strengthens unity and prepares us for victory in 2028,” Yamoah emphasised.

The January 31, 2025, primary is expected to be one of the hottest contests in recent years, with prominent figures such as Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong among the frontrunners.
