The Police in Twifo Abuboye in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region has initiated an investigation into the mysterious and tragic death of a three-day-old baby.

Residents in the area have been left in shock following the death of the three-day-old baby, who is said to have died due to poisoning. The baby’s mother,

Mrs. Gifty Donkoh, reportedly gave birth to a healthy baby boy at home on October 5. However, just two days later, the newborn became severely ill and was rushed to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Hospital on October 7.

In an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem, Mrs. Donkoh alleged that a woman identified only as Madam Alice, who usually bathes the baby and is believed to be a relative within the community, may have poisoned the baby with an unknown substance.

She told Nyankonton Mu Nsem that medical personnel at the hospital reportedly discovered a foreign substance resembling paper inserted into the baby’s anus, a disturbing finding that is suspected to have contributed to the child’s death.

Shockingly, the family is said to have buried the baby without reporting the matter to the police, prompting concern and outrage within the community.

Residents of Twifo Abuboye are demanding justice, describing the incident as a cruel and unthinkable act against an innocent child.

Details emerging indicate that the said woman who has been accused of killing the baby was not happy about the marriage between the mother of the child and the husband, who is her relative.

Madam Alice was also accused of damaging the wedding dress of the bereaved mother and defacing some of the baby’s clothes with chewing gum prior to this incident.

The Police have since instructed the family to go back to where they buried the baby and retrieve the remains for an autopsy to be conducted.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased baby has expressed his devastation and is calling on the police to urgently investigate the matter and bring any culprits to justice.
