The Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the suspected murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso, in the Ahafo Region. The arrests were made between Tuesday, November 11, and Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The suspects, currently in custody assisting with investigations, have been identified as Issifu Addae, also known as Akwasi Addae, 48; Stephen Gyamfi, 55; Augustine Arhinful, 42; and Martha Mansah, 65.

According to police sources, the four were picked up following intelligence linking them to the long-standing chieftaincy dispute involving the late Nana Owusu Korkor and his successor, Nana Akyeampong Duodu, who replaced him as the Akwamuhene of Tanoso after his destoolment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased, Nana Owusu Korkor, had refused to accept his destoolment and had engaged the royal family in a series of court cases over the chieftaincy title and related property matters.

He was also accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family and selling family land to a private developer after his removal from office.

Reports indicate that suspects Issifu, Stephen, Sampson, and Fosu confronted the said developer on the disputed land, seized his block moulding machine, and allegedly threatened to “teach the deceased a lesson” for his actions.

Police intelligence further suggests that Nana Akyeampong Duodu, who reportedly viewed the deceased as a major obstacle to his reign, is being considered a key suspect in the case. He is said to have traveled to the United States shortly before the incident—believed to be an attempt to create an alibi.

All four suspects have, however, denied involvement in the crime during interrogation.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and further developments will be communicated in due course.
